Diving Log 5.0 - Windows PC

Diving Log 5.0 is a complete dive log application available for your Windows XP or Vista based computer and is the ideal companion for Dive Log on iPhone.

Diving Log 5.0 is a feature rich dive logbook application. You can manage all your diving data including your dives, locations, equipment and photos. You can also use Diving Log 5.0 to import data directly from a number of dive computers as well as a large number of dive logbook file formats. Dives that are imported with Diving Log 5.0 from your dive computer will be transferred to Dive Log on iPhone with your dive profile data.

Diving Log 5.0 now supports the ability to import dives from your dive computer and merge that data with existing entries in you logbook. So you can capture dive information at the dive site on withDive Log on iPhone and later merge that with the data your dive computer captured during the dive for a complete record.

You can also run Diving Log 5.0 on your Mac if you are using Apple’s Boot Camp or virtualization software (we have tested Diving Log 5.0 with VMWare Fusion 2.0 and above on both Windows XP and Windows 7).

Dive Log Manager - Mac OS X

Dive Log Manager is a free application for Mac OS X that is designed specifically to allow you to manage your logbooks between your Mac and Dive Log on iPhone.

The “Sync” feature of Dive Log Manager enables you to transfer logbook files between Dive Log and your Mac. You can use this feature to backup and restore your Dive Log data on iPhone. You can also use this feature to transfer new logbooks converted from desktop diving logbook applications to Dive Log on iPhone.

The “Convert” feature enables you to import complete logbooks or specific dives directly from Mac Dive Log 1.3.2 logbook files and from MacDive (versions 1.5.0 thru 1.5.3). You can also import dives from desktop logbook applications that support exporting data in Universal Dive Computer Format (UDCF). Using this feature, you can make your existing logbook data available on iPhone. You can also use this feature to append dives to or merge dives with existing dives in your Dive Log logbook that you have downloaded from your dive computer giving you access to your profile data on your iPhone.

MacDive 2 (version 2.0) was recently released as an upgrade to MacDive 1.5.3. We have added support for directly importing MacDive 2 in our own Dive Log Manager 2.0 Beta. While you can continue to use Dive Log Manager 1.3 to import UDCF files exported from MacDive 2, you’ll want to download the Beta version of Dive Log Manager 2.0 to get the best data fidelity between MacDive 2 and Dive Log on iPhone.

The combination of Dive Log on iPhone and a compatible desktop application make it possible to capture information on your dive trip and later merge it with your dive computer data that you have imported on your desktop computer. Information from your dive computer (such as the depth, time and profile data) is merged with the information that you previously recorded about that dive directly on your iPhone (such as location, buddy, GPS and environmental information).

Dive Log Synchronization & Backup

Dive Log is designed to work either as your primary logbook application or as a mobile adjunct to compatible desktop diving logbook applications.

Your diving logbook is an important record of your diving history and must be protected against accidental loss. Dive Log’s data is backed up as a normal part of your iPhone synchronization and will be restored in the event of a recovery of your iPhone through iTunes. We also provide a synchronization feature within Dive Log that allows you to backup your logbook or synchronize it with compatible applications via a WiFi connection to your computer. We encourage you to maintain a backup of your logbook using this feature so that you have complete control of your important logbook information.

Dive Log currently supports synchronization and backup on Windows PC’s with Diving Log 5.0 (the older Diving Log 4.0 also has support for Dive Log on iPhone) and backup and upload on Mac OS X using our own Dive Log Manager. Diving Log 5.0 supports full synchronization in both directions. Dive Log Manager supports saving logbooks from Dive Log as well as loading logbooks to Dive Log. In addition, Dive Log Manager can import logbook data directly from Mac Dive Log 1.3.2 logbook files and from MacDive (versions 1.5.0 - 1.5.3) as well as from Universal Dive Computer Format (UDCF) files and convert it into a logbook data file suitable for loading in Dive Log on iPhone. The new Dive Log Manager 2.0 (currently available as a Beta release) can also be used to directly import data from the new MacDive 2 that was just released by the makers of MacDive 1.5.3.

We are continuing to work with makers of diving logbook applications for both the Windows PC and Apple Mac platforms and will be adding more options in the future.

Please visit the “FAQ and Tips” page if you are having difficulties connecting Dive Log on iPhone with a compatible application on the desktop. You can also contact support via e-mail for additional assistance.
